Gloria Gonzalez Benites was born in Michoacan, Mexico and immigrated to the United States at the age of 4. Salinas, California has been her hometown for the majority of her life. From a very young age, Mrs. Gonzalez knew that she wanted to help and impact the community in some way. After high school, she pursued her dream of becoming an educator and became the first woman in her family to graduate from college. Mrs. Gonzalez graduated from California State University Monterey Bay with a Bachelor’s in Human Communication, and she graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a Master’s Degree. Meanwhile attending college, she met the love of her life, gave birth to her daughter and son, and still managed to graduate with the support of her family. For 10 years she worked in the education industry.
Gloria began as a tutor for migrant students, taught English as A Second Language for the Salinas Adult School, and taught English Language Development at Alisal High School. Recently, she made the change to pursue a career as a financial professional when the opportunity made her realize how very little financial education was being taught to families of low and middle class incomes. As a financial professional, Mrs. Gonzalez is able to teach financial literacy to people who are usually left behind when it comes to this type of education. She is able to assist people with financial services to help prepare families and individuals for their financial future.
Mrs. Gonzalez’s goals are to continue to grow her financial services business and teach individuals who want to create a similar change in their communities. In the future, she and her husband would like to give back to the community by donating to charities, creating a non-profit to feed the homeless healthier food options, provide funding for school programs and non-profits, and serve at her church.
